Meditation and giving gratitude can help you to get more from your life

Meditation and giving gratitude can help you to get more from your life

Meditation is of great aid when we are going through troubled times, and wonderful too when we are in a happy state. Something which can be added in and helps us to move forward into a happier way of being is showing gratitude on a regular basis. Showing gratitude for the things that happen in our lives gives us a greater ability to move forward through both to the good times and the bad.

When we take time to show our appreciation for things that happen, or for the things that we enjoy in our life, give are showing appreciation for the lessons that come to us. Lessons that enable us to grow as people and spiritual beings. Sometimes the lessons are difficult or unpleasant to learn, though still it is wise to be grateful, an easier lesson may have been given earlier, though likely ignored. When you can show gratitude for the learning, and importantly act on that learning too, then you can make strong leaps forward with your evolution.

A really good way to do this is to sit down with a notebook or a journal in your meditation space and write down everything that has happened to you. The good stuff is easy to understand and show gratitude for. The less pleasant is where you can make the most movement though. Note down all the things that have happened in your life that you consider unpleasant or bad, when and a little of the background. Then one by one go through them and look at the reasons for them happening. Step outside your body and look on each event as though you were a fly on the wall, then have a look through the eyes of whoever else was involved to see what they thought. Work out how these things relate to your thoughts and feelings as they were, and work out what you need to learn about yourself to enable you to be more effective next time. That way you can work on what you wish to achieve and bring into your life.

After you have done this get into a comfortable seated position, have music and or incense going, and take time to Ha breathe for about five minutes. Then either with your eyes either open or closed, take yourself deeper into meditation and meditate on the lessons and learning you have been writing about. Call each event into your mind and work through it in light of the writing and thinking you have just done, and holding your deep meditation begin to feel gratitude for the opportunity you were given to learn and evolve. Start to see each event in a different light as the meditation moves on. Feel yourself taking a new direction with your life, one that has you getting into a more comfortable way of being. Take as long as you need with each event, breathe deeply and evenly and maintain a gentle calmness to your energy. In doing so the energy of gratitude and learning will put you in a more positive place in your meditation and make it clear that you accept all the learning for what it has brought you, and you are happy to let events like that be a thing of the past. They can only stay a thing of the past if you get all of the learning and incorporate it though. So be sure that you understand and work with everything that is there.

Once you have done this allow yourself another five minutes of Ha breathing, whilst you are doing that allow your mind to clear and become calmer. Feel the energy of gratitude running through you for your new state of peace and feel the liberation you have achieved. This calmness further solidifies the learning and what you have done with it by taking yourself to a more joyful place. Once you feel completely peaceful internally then begin to bring yourself out of meditation. As you ease out from meditating give thanks for what you have just done, for the positivity you now feel and what it is going to enable you to achieve now. Carry this joy and energy through the rest of your day.

Wherever you are and whatever you wish to achieve, I wish you beautiful meditations, Namaste.
